Home Again....for now!
After 18 flights on 8 different carriers...after sleeping in 17 hostels, 5 hotels and 9 homes....after visiting 32 cities in 5 countries...I'm back in Canada!!!
I was not impressed to land in Edmonton towards the end of April with 30cm of snow on the ground. Not the best Birthday gift! Mind you, I wasn't altogether surprised either...this is Canada after all. Just because it's Spring doesn't mean Winter's over!!
So how did I feel coming home? Well, I was excited to see the family members that couldn't make it down to Mexico and couldn't wait to hang out with my very best friends. I was excited to have something other than oatmeal for breakfast (the only option for this broke backpacker!) I looked forward to ordering fries (or chips, depending on who's reading this!!) and automatically getting ketchup (or tomato sauce!) with them. I couldn't wait to sort through my photos and relive each moment of my trip.
However, I am convinced that, while Edmonton holds certain comforts, emotional attachments and familiarity, I need to continue exploring the world to figure out where I fit in it....
For now, I'm getting ready to move into a place of my own in the west end of Edmonton, I've got some contracts set up with my business that will bring in some desparately needed cash, and I've got my sights set on my next journey, which may very well involve returning to a place that also holds a certain amount of familiarity....
So, thanks to those of you who have been reading my blog, following along with my travels and living vicariously through me. And now, a word of advice...
I encourage you to pull out a map, choose a destination....or many destinations...and start planning your trip. Because while my posts may have given you an idea of what the places I visited were like, they only describe them through my eyes...according to ang. You have to see for yourself!
